Countdown to Christmas
So how did last week go? Did you make a plan and start on your list? Good on you!
3 Weeks to Go
Presents
You should have your list prepared from last week, and it is just a case of continuing with this. Tick them off as you go, and remember to stick to your budget!!!
Christmas Tree
Some of you may even have your tree up already, if not have a think about when is a good day to do it. Leave yourself time and enjoy the experience. Put on some Christmas Music or a Christmas Film in the background. Make it a magical day.
If you are buying a real tree, you might be waiting until this weekend to do that, as otherwise it might not last long enough! Again, make it a fun time picking out the best tree, look at the size, shape and make sure it fits into the room!!!
Clothes
Most of us like to buy something new to wear for Christmas, and for growing kids this is usually a necessity. But perhaps we can repurpose something we already have in the wardrobe. A classic pair of Black Trousers – buy a new top; have a look at all those items still with tags on that you bought last year, and never wore!! Maybe you can swap with friend. Many items we buy only get one wear, why shouldn’t someone else get the benefit of that outfit you or your kids have grown out of. Save money, Save Time, Save the Planet!
Visit Santa
If you haven’t been to see Santa yet, why not come to our Santa Day on 14th December here at Lakers. Our Juniors are in from 12pm to 1.30pm and Adults from 2-4pm. If you want to come along, please give us a call so we have an idea of numbers.
Letter to Santa: Also, if you haven’t already written your letter, why not get out some nice paper and a pen tonight and send him off a lovely note, letting him know what you would like for Christmas, and don’t forget to say Thank You!
Declutter
Declutter
Before we get too close to Christmas, it is a good idea to have a look around and try to declutter your living areas. Once the tree and decorations go up, this will be harder to do. Make a list of jobs to do – and everyone needs to help out!! Spread the chores around the whole family.
Overseas Parcels and Letters
Now is a good time to start writing our Christmas Cards, particularly those going overseas. Maybe write a few each day, spread the work. But do send cards, it is always such a wonderful way to keep in touch by post.
We should definitely be posting any parcels now, and the last dates for posting cards & letters can be found on the An Post website linked below.
If you would like to buy some Lakers Christmas Cards, you can get them in our online shop, also linked below. And don’t forget to buy your Christmas Stamps too.
Cooking and Baking Preparation
Cooking & Baking Preparation: This is a good week to make your Christmas Cake. You can check out our video on how to make one is linked below, it is a nice light cake ready to decorate in time for Christmas. We can do the decorating in December.
It is also a good idea to use the coming weeks to check what is in the fridge and freezer and try and use up as much as we can, ready to put in some fresh purchases we might be making for over the Christmas period. We can also batch bake items in the coming week or two and pop them in the freezer.
