Who We Are
We are Lakers
Friendship, Respect, InclusionAt Lakers Social and Recreation Club, we joyfully support both adults and children with intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to empower our members to grow, learn, and boost their personal skills and confidence through a wide range of exciting sports and social activities, including football, basketball, cooking, art, pottery, computer literacy, dancing, and so much more!
Founded in 1989 as a basketball club by passionate parents who wanted to create opportunities for their children, and with the help of inspiring young coach Clare Brady, Lakers now offers over 70 vibrant activities each week for our amazing 400 members. Our centre is open six days a week and thrives thanks to the dedication of more than 160 volunteers, over 20 enthusiastic staff members, and our supportive Lakers families. Join us in creating a fun and inclusive community!
